This is "Early Morning" – a powerful and alluring piece from my father’s series of male portraits. The image is a study in contrasts and quiet mystery. The majority of the canvas is consumed by a massive, dark surface, from the bottom of which a solitary male figure just barely peeks out cautiously. Behind him, a flat horizon stretches toward a distant city silhouette under a cool morning sky, which is broken by a glowing, hovering ring. It is a surreal and deeply melancholic work with enormous visual weight. It is an image that does not shout, yet it demands space and instantly adds edge and character to your home.
