This is "The Ornithologist" – one of those works by my father's hand where the surreal and the quirky are truly allowed to take the lead. The title plays with the viewer – because who is actually observing whom? Is it the birdwatcher disguised as a birdhouse, or is it nature itself peering back at us undisturbed with its single, watchful eye?
